Key Responsibilities
- Install, test, commission, and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, electrical equipment, wiring, panels, inverters, batteries, and related components.
- Perform electrical installation and wiring works according to approved drawings, specifications, and safety standards.
- Conduct site inspections and assess electrical and solar installation requirements.
- Install and connect solar panels, mounting structures, inverters, charge controllers, batteries, distribution boards, cables, and protection devices.
- Perform testing and commissioning of solar and electrical systems to ensure proper and safe operation.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults, system failures, wiring issues, inverter problems, and other technical problems.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of solar PV systems and electrical installations.
- Monitor system performance and identify issues affecting power generation, efficiency, and reliability.
- Conduct routine inspections of solar panels, electrical connections, cables, batteries, inverters, earthing systems, and protection equipment.
- Repair or replace defective electrical and solar components when required.
- Ensure proper cable routing, connections, earthing, insulation, and installation quality.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and solar system layouts.
- Use electrical testing instruments and tools safely and correctly, including multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, and other relevant equipment.
- Maintain proper records of installation, maintenance, testing, repairs, materials used, and site activities.
- Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, project teams, clients, and other technicians to complete work efficiently.
- Provide technical support and explain basic system operation and maintenance requirements to customers when required.
- Follow all applicable electrical safety procedures, occupational health and safety standards, and company policies.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are maintained properly and safely.
- Report technical issues, material requirements, project progress, and safety concerns to the supervisor or project manager.
- Perform other technical duties related to solar and electrical works as assigned by management.
Job Requirements
- Diploma, Overseer, Certificate, or Technical Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, Solar Technology preferred. Candidates who are currently pursuing the relevant degree and have relevant work experience may also be considered.
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in electrical or solar installation and maintenance.
- Practical knowledge of solar PV systems, electrical wiring, inverters, batteries, distribution boards, and protection systems.
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and solar system layouts.
- Knowledge of electrical testing equipment and troubleshooting techniques.
- Understanding of basic electrical safety, earthing, circuit protection, and safe work practices.
- Physically fit and comfortable working at project sites, rooftops, and outdoor locations where required.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Willingness to travel to different project sites as required.
- Two-wheeler with a valid driving license is preferred.
